About Us
As of January 1, 2017, Thomas J. Murphy and Richard Schisano welcome attorney Gisele C. Rosado as partner to the firm. Murphy, Schisano & Rosado will continue at its present location of 717 Broadway in Newburgh, New York under its new name.
Thirty-three years ago, at 807 Broadway, Rich and Tom first met, working for the same law firm. As the years moved on, Tom and Rich went their separate ways, Richard as managing partner of a medium-size law firm in the Newburgh area and Tom forming his own practice at 425 Robinson Avenue in the City of Newburgh.
Tom’s interests took him into real estate and into litigation covering a wide-ranging area of litigation in matters as diverse as real estate and business contracts and criminal matters including white collar crimes, DWI, and felony cases.
Rich’s interests took him into the fields of bankruptcy, business and estate planning, and … Ultimately, Rich moved on to be Deputy in Charge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York, in White Plains and Poughkeepsie. After a successful career there, Rich moved back to the private sector and the partnership of Murphy & Schisano was formed.
Gisele, a Hudson-Valley native, began practicing law in the state of Florida in 2006. She shortly thereafter returned to her home town, where she became licensed to practice law in the State of New York, joining Tom as an associate attorney in 2008. Her interests led her to concentrate her practice in the fields of consumer protection, mortgage foreclosure, bankruptcy and civil litigation matters. In the midst of the subprime mortgage crisis, Gisele returned to Florida to lend her legal expertise to distressed homeowners in South Florida. After much success in one of the country’s hardest hit regions, Gisele returned to her roots and the office of Murphy & Schisano.
With a long-standing reputation of legal excellence and over 30 years of success, Tom has announced his retirement from the practice, but will remain “of counsel” to the firm. Rich and Gisele will continue as managing partners and are excited to join forces in the legal community and continue to provide impeccable services to the people of the Hudson Valley.
We are here to serve all your legal needs in personal matters and business, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, probate and estate planning. Tom will continue to consult in minor criminal and traffic matters. In business matters, Rich focuses on bankruptcies, personal reorganization, commercial matters, licensing and tax resolutions. Gisele’s current practice focuses on consumer bankruptcy, foreclosure defense, loan workouts, debt negotiation, real estate transactions, and consumer and civil litigation.
Murphy, Schisano & Rosado, as a general practitioner firm, offers a full range of legal representation, business transactions including contract real estate, civil litigation, criminal defense, traffic violations, personal injury, loan workouts and mortgage foreclosures, Wills, Estates and Probate.
